ABOUT LAKE CHAPARRAL

Lake Chaparral offers 3 fishing lakes, a kid’s fishing pond, beaches, docks, boat ramps, 2 shower houses, open-air pavilion, community room, gated access, and other amenities to those who own property within the subdivision. The community is heavily treed. Within the subdivision you will see manufactured homes, small cottages, recreational vehicles and motor homes parked on a permanent basis, plus lots set up to easily pull in a camping trailer or RV.

Lake Chaparral is located 7.5 miles northwest of Mound City, Kansas, 29 miles south of Paola Kansas, and approximately 75 miles SW of Kansas City (KS and MO) and is zoned for residential use. Around 16 miles of graveled roads run through much of the subdivision, and the POA (property owners association) maintains them diligently.

Lake Chaparral is a beautiful and peaceful community. As you meander through the byways, you find yourself in awe of the imagery represented here, with lush greenery abounding throughout the year. Even though many of the trees lose their leaves in the fall, their exit adorns Lake Chaparral with lush, vibrant colors, and grasses seem to never brown.

A lot of time, attention and care has been given to the three lakes of Lake Chaparral. Timberline is the smallest, nestled in a valley. De Lago Lake is the next largest, and offers a shower house, plus a family barbecue area adjacent to a floating dock, plus a boat ramp and swimming beach. The largest lake, Lake Chaparral, is the namesake of the community and has yet another beach, shower house, docks and boat ramps. And best of all, since it’s a private community, owners need not have a fishing license. Also, the lakes are stocked regularly.

Close enough from the city for a day trip but far enough to escape, Lake Chaparral and its property owners association, along with the Entertainment Committee, put on quite a few special events throughout the year, including such holidays as Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Activities Club hosts bingo in the clubhouse on certain Saturday evenings and bridge in the game room on a regular basis.

45 minutes from the historic Fort Scott’s civil war memories, There are antique shops to find those ‘hidden gems’ in every direction. And Lake Chaparral is only 30 minutes from the Amish Farmer’s Market, where you can pick up many organically-grown meats, vegetables and homemade treats. There is a strong sense of safety and stability within the community, with little-to-no crime; a big deal, compared to the big city.

Most of the lots within the gates of Lake Chaparral are more than able to handle your building or vacation requirements, but bear in mind that many lots in the Lake Chaparral community are on very steep, cliff-like land surfaces, and not a good candidate or even possible for development, but they lend whole-heartily to the aesthetic beauty of the woodland hillsides and terrain that makes Lake Chaparral like no where else in Kansas.
